Heinrich's Dream

"What if you slept? And what if, in your sleep, you dreamed? And what if, in your dream, you went to heaven and there plucked a strange and beautiful flower? And what if, when you awoke, you had the flower in your hand? Ah, what then?"
-Coleridge

"...the world becomes a dream, and the dream becomes reality."
-Novalis

Dedicated to those in the transports of artistic rapture; to those whose perception cannot tell a dream from reality.

Heyy Crooner,

Good to see you, mate. You say so much yet with so less words. I can only reply with a poem that I loved so much.

The dreams of my heart and my mind pass,
Nothing stays with me long,
But I have had from a child
The deep solace of song;

If that should ever leave me,
Let me find death and stay
With things whose tunes are played out and forgotten
Like the rain of yesterday.

*cheers*

Pithy's become a wasted art these days. I'd like to say i practice it, but i'm far from perfection. :-)

Beautiful, beautiful lines, those. How do people manage to quote free verse at the drop of the hat? It amazes me. I can't seem to remember any.

Hey Crooner,

I would like to admit something, man. I too cant remember the lines I quote "at the drop of the hat". That's why I keep them with me. Somewhere near so that I can reach them anytime I want. In times of good and bad too. Poetry can be therapeutic.

*cheers*

hmm..this was what i was talking to a friend of mine just last nite... about how I still continue living a dream with such ideal situations... but the harsh reality like he put it is... dreams are just illusions who at the break of dawn just give a rude awakening and nothing else... probably i'm being cynical... after a lot of mulling over, i've started agreeing with his point of view..

@ crystal
I like to think that's a good thing. Thanks :)

It's OK to be grounded by reality, but if you lose your dreams, you'll never take flight.

The lines Talking to my Soul quoted are also very nice.

Beautiful quotes...Thank you for sharing.
Surely Coleridge must have spoken from the blissful experience shared by all artists.

@ a reader from india
My pleasure. :)
I think though that every artist experiences bliss in a very unique way.

:-) Without our dreams we are nothing.
